Rambling →
Fuck, man. Periods: they’re the difference between a “rambling suicide note” and a… regular old suicide note. Punctuation: get into it. If you’re gonna make your mark or whatever, make actual marks; be clear. Be articulate. I do realize that the implied audience in this case has killed himself.

Midtown Bar Options
There’s a stretch of decent bars in the vicinity of the Empire State Building: Galway Hooker 1 E. 36th Street. Irish pub meets club. Pub fare, full bar. The volume (sound-wise) can become unmanageable depending on the day or night. But because of the size of the space, and the length of the bar, it can accommodate larger groups or smaller. Pool tables available in the back room....

Metaphors aren't just how we talk and write,... →
lauriebreaker:austinkleon: Drawing on philosophy and linguistics, cognitive scientists have begun to see the basic metaphors that we use all the time not just as turns of phrase, but as keys to the structure of thought. By taking these everyday metaphors as literally as possible, psychologists are upending traditional ideas of how we learn, reason, and make sense of the world around us. The result...

So Says Ira

Wahlberg & Ferrell cast as second-rate cops →
Hoping for greatness. But more-OBER, hoping that Michael Keaton in the cast means a long-overdue reappearance of his most awesome recurring character, agent Ray Nicolette. If not, at least name him Ray. Give us something.

Mending
It’s not a bad thing, from both economic and green perspectives. Replacing buttons, sewing up tears and whatnot. It’s also instantly gratifying, even if that gratification makes you feel idiotic for a moment. Yes, now my pants don’t fall down. I’m reminded of iron-on patches, and what I recall as their ubiquity when I was young(er). If you ripped a knee or elbow, or if it...
