Can a creative person
have no trauma in his past?
Does head trauma count?
Or a toxic river?
I learned to swim in sludge.

What doesn't kill you
makes you stranger
will try again later.

Oscar Wilde’s beautiful and impressive grave at Père Lachaise cemetery in Paris. Each time I’ve been there it has been covered in lipstick kisses.

His epitaph, from The Ballard of Reading Gaol [written shortly after Wilde was released from prison], reads:

And alien tears will fill for himPity’s long-broken urn,For his mourners will be outcast men,And outcasts always mourn.

Simply walking through that small, wondrous city of a cemetery is a very emotional experience, but standing at this grave is particularly moving.
